One of my goals as the Social-Emotional Learning facilitator is to increase the emotional intelligence of our students so they are prepared for both academic and life success. Possessing the ability to manage stress effectively is essential to the success of our students and this cannot be accomplished if parents are not included. Parents who reported high levels of stress have also reported that their children experience challenges with self-management, greater difficulty coping with social demands, and greater difficulty managing emotional situations (Soltis, et al., 2015). This, in turn, results in lower academic performance. I would like to invite a speaker who specializes in brain health to educate our parents on the neuroscience of stress and to provide them with stress solutions.
