Flexible seating is a significant addition to today's classroom, and mine is lacking in options for my students. I want to provide a variety of alternative seating options. There are "studies that suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on task behavior." We're looking for crazy flexible seating options, stuff that will really let us wobble while we work! Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and gives them the opportunity to wobble, rock, and bounce. This in turn increases oxygen flow to the brain, which helps to keep young minds more alert and focused.
