To help students understand the issue of renewable energy, it is important to use models and hands-on learning to create an engaging learning experience. The materials in these kits will provide students with hands-on experiences that will encourage a deeper understanding of an idea that is often considered abstract. By allowing students to actively participate in building their own learning experiences we can encourage those students to become confident learners and ambassadors of STEM topics. The three kits that have been requested will support student learning of geothermal, solar, and biofuels while also teaching students the engineering process and to actively solve problems. Helping students to understand the way renewable energy is produced and how we can conserve energy is important to promote a greener future. The students at my school are especially in need and the current materials in my classroom are not adequate to foster future innovation.
