This year my classroom will be located in a trailer. I must create a Covid-Ready teaching space. Schools are re-opening for in-person learning and activities. As a teacher, my students are my main concern. My students are faced with obstacles outside the classroom. I want to provide them with aid inside the classroom. It is my job to take action in the learning environment to reduce the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. Regardless of their specific status, every student with a disability is entitled to the same safe environment as others. My students are eager to return to school. Once we return, my classroom will be full of young energetic students who are ready to pick up where they left off. They want to learn without environmental barriers. Why your donations are important? According to the CDC, there are many considerations when operating schools during COVID-19. The use of masks is one of many important mitigation strategies to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol should be used. Schools need to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces within the school regularly as well as ensure adequate supplies to minimize sharing of high touch materials to the extent possible (e.g., assigning each student their own equipment). Schools also need to create physical barriers and guides. They should install physical barriers, such as sneeze guards and partitions, particularly in areas where it is difficult for individuals to remain at least 6 feet apart.
