Do you care about where I came from? Do you want to know what talents I have? Do you want to know why I'm so strong, and why I am so brave? Do you know how I celebrate and what things bring me joy? Do you wonder how I was raised and all the things I was told? Well, I wonder, and I'm me! I need to know my culture. I need to know my roots. I need to know myself fully, so I can share with you. Because, you knowing me and me knowing you is what will makes this world beautiful and help see us through. Our world needs more celebration; more reasons to feel good. We need to accept each other, respect each other and make our peace together. How can we do that if we don't know the beauty of one's culture? Our students have the opportunity to learn more about one culture specifically. The African Culture. Through theatre, music, and folktales, a company named Bright Star Children's Theatre, will present a program rich in African Folktales. Bright Star Children's Theatre will present this curriculum-integrated performance. Students will be told folktales from Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa! They will learn how African folktales sometimes use animals to act as humans, so that a lesson can be told. In the midst of this story telling, the actors will use voices, movement and drums to create musical interest. Our school has raised almost 50% of the funds needed to bring this spectacular performance to our students. Can you please help us fund this? Thank you for your time and consideration!
