My students love technology! Especially, when they get to use it to complete their required, daily lessons. Seeing their excitement, as well as the other children's excitement for them, when they reach the next level on a program, or make connections to what we are learning in class to what they are seeing in their personalized programs is a feeling like none other. Unfortunately, we don't have enough computers in the room for all of my children to get on during their center rotation. One child from each group has to take their turn sitting out each day while the others get to get on and continue to grow and make progress towards their weekly goals. The HP Laptop, with the Google Educator License, requested will allow for all my children to complete their required activities at one time, in addition to providing extra technology we can use to explore the world around us. From what I have witnessed, in the first grade classroom, paper/pencil task can be daunting and, quite often, not very engaging or fun. Because of this, I have also included interactive games and manipulatives that my children can use to help build on their understanding of the core subjects, while enjoying themselves in a relaxed learning environment. The materials requested will help provide my students an opportunity to EXPERIENCE learning through technology with the help of Google and some fun and engaging games.
