Having laptops in our classroom would make a world of difference in the lives of my students. As fifth-graders, they are preparing to enter the next step in their educational careers, middle school. Therefore, they are expected to not only research information but also create new ways of presenting that information. Technology allows students to become active in the learning process. Learning becomes fun, engaging and interactive with the use of technology. As they move forward, the expectations increase and so must their knowledge of how to use technology to maximize their learning. Having the students become familiar with technology now will only strengthen their ability to use it in the future and thus be prepared to compete for future programs and jobs. I believe all children can learn and succeed, especially those with the right tools.
