Engagement is one of the key foundations of learning. When students are interested, they put forth more effort and dedicate themselves to the task at hand. Young English Language Learners will never be engaged when they have to sit on a rug and listen for long periods of time. It's important that these students are engaged through movement and hands-on activities. Tactile learning styles help students encode information better and retain what they've been taught. All of the materials that I am asking for will help keep my students engaged, teach them using all their senses, and will help create an inclusive class for all learning types. This project will me implement a lot of varying strategies and activities throughout the school day. Standing desks and flexible seating will allow students to be more active while doing work. The Osmos will allow my ELL students to interact with other students in games and to participate independently on specific skills. The whisperphone will give my ELL kids the ability to practice forming words and letter sounds to increase their English language abilities. The goal for these activities is to allow my students to work independently while being engaged and moving around the room.
