In a traditional English curriculum Modernist or existentialist texts are usually reserved for the older or more advanced students. In my 15 years of teaching, however, I have found that Millennials and Xennials are born into a world of existentialism and moral relativism. Readers of all high school levels can access Camus' (and Wards) clear and concise narrative and the text is a perfect jumping off point for discussions of all kinds. Students feel accomplished that they have read a "classic" and the insightful comments about the text astound me year after year. Unfortunately, I am now at a small school with a limited book closet and an even smaller book budget. I full set of this slim novel would take our entire year's budget! So, I thank you in advance for your donation.
