The students in my classroom are 6th, 7th and 8th graders with a learning disability or a cognitive delay. They are reading at a kindergarten through 4th grade level. Yet they are extremely street smart, you cannot humiliate them and give them "baby work". The students are from a low income, gang infested neighborhood in Chicago. Most of the students are eager to learn and be successful. They just need the right tools and caring people to give them guidance.
