The accessories I am requesting will allow students to take full advantage of the technology in our classroom! Currently, we do not have an easy way for students to even print. They might type up an essay or a poem, but then have no access to send it to a printer. (It is VERY time-consuming to take one flash drive to 20 computers to save student work!) These flash drives would make it possible for every student to save, and keep track of, their own work and make printing much easier. In this day and age, sometimes it's hard to keep students' attention at school when they're used to technology-packed entertainment at home! After many kids spend evenings playing video games or using cell phones/tablets to watch Netflix and Youtube, they can get bored or distracted with paper, pencil, and textbooks. Fortunately, we're blessed to have a classroom set of iPads to add some variety, but students mainly use them to work on county math and reading programs. I would love to expand the possibilities of iPad use to more engaging assignments that foster student creativity, imagination, and collaboration! From experience, I know the iPad's own built-in microphone doesn't work well enough for students to use them as a video camera or to even record their own voiceover on a project. Showing the final video/movie/project to the rest of the class is usually impossible because the volume is never loud enough, and watching yourself on TV is the most fun part, right?! Having these small accessories would greatly improve our daily school day by opening doors to more practical and engaging uses of our current technology!
