Our school is located in an economically-depressed neighborhood. My students' families struggle to put a roof over their children's heads and food in their mouths. As a result, over 90% are on the free-lunch and reduced lunch program and have limited monies available to donate much-needed supplies to the classroom. And, like most school districts, ours has faced a tremendous cut in funding by the state so our district cannot provide the supplies either. Despite all that, my students are eager and excited about learning and extremely capable if provided with opportunities.
