This interactive field trip will support the 3rd grade curriculum by having the Julian Mining Co. bring the Native American experience to our school. This includes 3-4 costumed instructors who provide all materials, set up and take down. They also provide all instruction for the interactive stations with our students. Our students will shoot a bow & arrow, make a clay pinch pot, braid Yucca & grind acorns into “showii”, throw a tomahawk, visit a life size Sioux tipi, learn about trading and make a bracelet to take home. We also have our teachers & adult volunteers available from our school who will support the interactive sessions and ensure that all students participate in each activity. This project will connect the student’s 3rd Grade Native American Studies curriculum to an interactive experience as they recreate this period in California History.
