My students are eager to learn, but sometimes struggle to focus. Flexible seating options allow them to wiggle, which helps them stay engaged and on-task. Studies have shown that different seating options greatly benefit students' learning. This may sound like a theory, but I have personally witnessed the improvement of academic success in my classroom because of flexible seating.
One wobble stool in my classroom helped a student improve his focus and motivation. Before using the wobble stool, this student needed up to a dozen reminders per class period. Now, this number has decreased by 75%, and I only remind him a couple of times a day. He is more eager to learn and takes more pride in his work because of his increased focus. Seeing this huge improvement in one student has inspired me to be able to provide this opportunity for many more of my fourth graders.
My hope is that I will have more flexible seating options that benefit my students individually to improve focus and motivation. With your help, we can achieve this together.
