Many of our multilingual learners are losing their joy for reading because they are not yet able to read books at their age and interest level. This is particularly true of 3rd to 5th-grade newcomers who are reading at much lower grade levels. While they are acquiring English reading skills, they should have the opportunity to be exposed to age-appropriate books that align with their personal interests. With the Fire Tablet, our multilingual learners will be able to use "Epic!" an app that reads high-interest books out loud for students to enjoy. With this tablet, our students will be able to listen to age and grade-appropriate books on topics ranging from monster trucks to mysteries, from pirates to princesses. Each digital book is filled with colorful, detailed pictures. Each word is also highlighted as it is read out loud. Two students will be able to enjoy a book simultaneously with the help of the headphone splitter and two pairs of headphones. We will also be able to enjoy our tablet and keep it safe for many years with a screen protector and case. Having access to fascinating digital books is essential in keeping our multilingual learners interested in reading. Thank you!
