In the past several years, it has become evident the effect that both poverty and debit cards have on children's access to actual coins. While most adults grew up counting their parents spare change, children today do not have that same opportunity. Our changing world and economy has had great impact on my student's recognition of both coins and their value. I have selected puzzles, manipulative coins and large, magnetic visual aids for the children to use to help present the concepts in a variety of ways. Providing children engaging, hands-on and visual activities to help them master monetary concepts is vital to their success. The materials I have selected will be used to show students that learning money can be fun!

About my class
