Using a popular design and persistence-building toy, like LEGOS, my students will plan a story element and build it. They might build a character, setting, or problem as a springboard to help them develop a creative writing piece. My kids will incorporate engineering into the blueprint of their LEGO design. This creation will be a springboard to guide their writing. Meeting standards with fun and ingenious LEGO projects will motivate my resistant writers. They will focus on ways to include more details in both their design and their writing piece. This year my students are particularly resistant and uninterested in writing. I hope that they will feel inspired to show their creativity in many ways including writing.
