An avenue of drama that my students have been wanting to explore is puppetry! We have been using the back of their chairs and/or a tipped over table as a puppet stage, and that just isn't the ideal way to practice puppetry. Puppetry is a great way for shy and anxious students to feel comfortable and still receive recognition without feeling nervous- after all, it is the puppet talking not them right? Puppetry provides a low-risk opportunity for building students' confidence both onstage and in their everyday lives as they encounter situations that require bravery. This project will provide my students with a sturdy and practical puppet stage and high quality puppets that they can rehearse with!
