There are many fun and interactive activities that these scooters will be used for in my PE class. My students are instructed to always lay on their stomach while riding the scooter. This allows them to strengthen leg and arm muscles as they propel themselves down the gymnasium floor. One activity that the scooters will be used for are relay races. Besides social enjoyment, relay races are a good way to teach aspects of teamwork and good sportsmanship.
These scooters will enhance games and activities with the overall goal for the students to learn how to work together in order to accomplish team goals. Another activity the scooters will be used for is a game called hungry hungry hippos. This a real life version of the popular board game and a class favorite for my PreK-2nd graders. During this game, students work on teams to collect as much hippo foods (plastic balls) as they can while staying on the scooter. When they get back to their group they count together as a group how many pieces of hippo food they collected.
