Having these supplies like the Flair pens, markers and Sharpies allow my students to make reading and notes their own. They don't have much that is their own so being able to get create and take ownership empowers them. We do a lot of project based learning which allows them to be the teacher and take the led. This also requires a bigger need for large chart paper and construction paper for designing and presenting. Having access to "teacher materials" gives my students a sense of ownership in the room and encourages them to work harder to learn and grow.
