Students spend most of their days sitting down. Flex seating allows students a break from the day-to-day desk routine and provides them with choices within their learning environment. These seats can motivate students when used as an incentive, as well as improve engagement by giving them a comfortable place to focus on their learning. Although my classroom does not yet have any flex seating, the benefits of incorporating new seating options will be reflected in this years' learning growth. By funding this project, you are helping enhance an independent reading area in a Bilingual/ESL classroom where students can look forward to working on their literacy skills. With current social distancing protocols and safety measures, the "face-to-face" learning environments will feel very different from what students are used to. In addition to the known benefits of flex seating, the products I have selected will hopefully bring some comfort and joy into our space!
