Each week kindergarten and first-grade students visit the library. I read stories to them and get them interested in books. I also help to reinforce literacy that is being taught in the classroom on a weekly basis. Kindergartners and first graders need reinforcement with letter sounds and recognition. These puppets will help keep students engaged while I use the puppets to introduce the weekly letter which will include singing songs with the letter of the week. I will also teach them chants we can repeat for letter-sound reinforcement. These puppets will be a fun way to keep the students' attention while learning letter sounds.
