Our students thrive on positive interactions from teachers and I would love to be able to have more one on one or small groups come into the art room to be able to experience throwing clay on the potters wheel. It is an extremely calming and engaging process and I would be thrilled to be able to share that experience with my students. Having students come in to use the potters wheel would also be a huge motivator in my room to reinforce positive behaviors. At my school there are several challenging behaviors and I think being able to have time on a potters wheel would be a fun and engaging experience that most students would want to work towards by making positive choices. If we were able to have a potters wheel we could even do some cool activities involving the potters wheel at our school wide events to involve families as well.
