As a school librarian, my main goal is to foster a love of reading. It is important that my diverse students are ALL represented in the books that I offer. My passion as a librarian is to foster and encourage all students to seek out the perfect book that they can see themselves in! With so many uncertainties about the upcoming school year, I want to provide an abundance of books featuring diverse characters and cultures. These books will both be used in the school, and in the event of home learning, students will have the opportunity to take a book home to keep their reading going. Also, STEM activities will foster collaboration and exploration. The STEM items will provide ample opportunities to collaboratively work with one another and build a community of acceptance. Some of my students do not have the opportunity to engage in STEM activities at home, these materials will bring STEM learning to each and every one of them.
