In my classroom, I have several wiggly students that are always moving. They simply cannot sit still. This becomes a little bit of a struggle for them at times when it is ideal for them to be sitting in their seat. The traditional desk chairs just do not work for these students, as the constant moving around leads to them feeling very uncomfortable in their seat. Their lack of comfort leads to their inability to stay engaged in lessons and on their work. I believe the perfect solution for these wiggly students are balance ball chairs! These chairs would provide students a comfortable surface to wiggle on, while at the same time being safe. I have always been a little concerned about the safety when it comes to stability balls, as I have seen many children roll off of them. However, the balance ball chairs provide a safe base while still providing students with the positive benefits of stability balls. I truly believe that these balance ball chairs will help my wiggly learners stay engaged so that they can continue to grow as learners.
