I currently host an afterschool reading club for grades 6th, 7th and 8th. The iREAD club that I host is to aide struggling readers in improving their reading skills and develop a love for literacy. My reading club is held afterschool and I need snacks and a laptop to help my students. My students will select books of different interest and we will read them as a group. The laptop will serve as our way to read books and infuse technology and the snacks will be used to give my students a snack to eat before they go home. We will use the laptop to have books read aloud and to show videos clips to introduce the book topics in order to activate prior knowledge. This way my students will be able to gain a comprehension and understanding of various topics that they are not usually exposed to. iREAD club is to aide students to gain a love for reading and It will assist with the development of the comprehension component and allow students to connect reading to their daily routine and become life-long readers and learners.
