Not all students are on a College path. We need to prepare students for the world of work by giving them the skills to earn a living doing something that they love. Skills learned using technology will fill a need in the community and give students a trade that they can take with them after public education. Teach students to be productive citizens of a changing world. Advancements in technology give opportunity to learn skills that can be used in real life jobs immediately following graduation. Every year, our school district showcases the talents of its students at a large community event. This event is student driven and focuses on what is important to the child and how it impacts the world. The skills learned through the Glowforge tool, begin with an idea and flow through the creation of a useable product that can improve daily living. Students will learn how to conceptualize a product, create it on the computer, and create an end result. Their products will be tested at the community event to see its impact on the world and others.
