Headphones help students focus while spending valuable time on ST Math and Lexia Reading computer training programs. Increased student focus allows greater growth on these programs. The programs track student data and target individual student needs in math and reading. Additionally, headphones help increase the learning environment for students working in small groups with the teacher. When students are better able to focus during their computer time, I am able to maximize the small group learning time with other students, and then we switch groups. Finally, the headphones help students do their best on computerized testing. These tests often include a read aloud portion for first graders which can become distracting unless students have headphones to listen at their own pace.
