Both the easel and the flexible seating will provide special opportunities for my students to work in small group and one-to-one settings. The easel will be used as both a teaching tool and a manipulative. It is my goal to not only use the board to provide instruction (specifically during math and reading intervention), but to have the students become engaged by using magnetic manipulatives to reason and develop new strategies. The students will be able to visualize and investigate difficult concepts that may be preventing them from moving forward. Further, by providing flexible seating options, my students will be able to begin to channel their energy and "need for movement" into another source. Rather than becoming distracted during intervention time, they will be able to use the chair to help them focus more on learning and less on excessive movement.
