In a Montessori classroom, grade levels are combined. 1st grade comes to music with 2nd and 3rd grade. Kindergarten is combined with Pre-Kindergarten, and 4th and 5th grade come to music class together. This allows students to be grouped by ability and concept that is being taught rather than age. It lets younger students get a glimpse of what they will learn next. It lets older students help out the younger students and learn in the process. But in the music room I need a way to keep track of one group's progress while I'm working with another. I need technology to help students record their learning and their progress, while I work with other small groups of students. With the iPad students can compose their own music and record it for me on the iPad in SeeSaw or our district program called Blend. Then I can give them feedback, have them improve their work, and then publish it to share with parents and the school. With the iPad students can draw a picture of what they're hearing in the musical phrase we're studying, then record themselves explaining what they've drawn. With the iPad students can create a backbeat to support improvisation on instruments. The iPad will facilitate students working independently and collaboratively with their peers, and free me up to work with students who are struggling. Please consider helping. Thank you.
