Leaving the classroom behind, my students and fellow teachers need outdoor equipment to explore, engage and push boundaries. A little bit of trepidation before facing the ocean is natural, as is a little bit of anxiety before most of the significant events in our lives. It's important for teachers and students to bond in the great outdoors! If you’re brand new to surfing, paddling yourself out into crashing waves can be somewhat daunting at first. But, TOGETHER YES WE CAN! 1. IMPROVE SWIMMING ABILITIES Most people would probably say that they know how to swim. However, there’s a difference between knowing how to swim and feeling confident while you’re in the water. Surfing is an excellent way for children (and adults) to build their water confidence. 2. TEACHES BALANCE AND COORDINATION Kids and teenagers are still refining their motor skills, so surfing is a great environment to put their coordination to the test and help them improve their balance. 3. COMMUNE WITH NATURE If you want your child to develop an appreciation for nature, surfing is an easy way to immerse them (literally) in the outdoors. 4.
