I would love to be able to give my students the opportunity to have flexible seating. Flexible seating allows students to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom. When students are able to be comfortable they tend to be more calm, focused, and productive. My students jump at the chance to be able to work where they want in the classroom and when they can choose where they work and with whom it seems there is nothing they cannot accomplish. Currently, our flexible seating arrangement options include switching desks with a willing classmate, sitting on the carpet, or in our small library area with a clipboard. The products I have chosen will allow for more choice, comfort, and collaboration while strengthening our classroom community. The Surf - lap desks will give students the opportunity to sit in the carpet and write comfortably. The Gaiam ball chair allow students to bounce and sit while students are still stationary which can also be useful to help students who get antsy. I also chose wobble stools that would allow students to work either at their seat or the kidney table and be able to safely move while sitting without putting a regular chair on less than its four legs. I have witnessed the positive effects of flexible seating arrangements and I hope these choices will positively affect my students work and demeanor, while also making our classroom feel more lively so that we can continue to flourish in our space.
