Playing board games in the library may be a bit opposite of what you think a library space should look and sound like. But let me reassure you - our library is a safe space where students can practice all the academic AND social skills they will need to succeed in making our world the best version of itself. Board games like Chess, Sequence, and Blokus not only reinforce reading, math, and critical thinking skills, but will also help my students re-learn important social skills such as taking turns, how to talk and listen in a group setting, and how to be a good sport regardless of winning or losing. Due to remote learning, my students have not had many chances to learn and practice these skills. If you can help me make social skill practice FUN, then the sky is the limit for my awesome students! Thank you for your support!
