Most of my students have communication delays of some sort. The range of delays are anywhere from non-verbal to delays in expressive and receptive language to articulation. These can make it very hard for them to communicate with teachers and peers. We try to use as many modes of communication as possible including words, signs, actions, and even communication devices and buttons to help them communicate their wants and needs. Currently we have no technology to help us with communication, but if we had a couple of iPads we could find some communication apps to help students express themselves. The iPads could also be used for adaptive learning within the classroom. Sometimes it is hard to get my students’ attention and keep them engaged, but the use of an iPad would provide another way to help keep them interested and motivated to learn more. With your donation to our project, my students will be better able to communicate and learn new things. It would mean so much to myself and my students to be able to have the means to communicate not only with each other, but also the world!
