“The inmates run the asylum” is a popular saying. Apply this philosophy of thinking to today’s technologically advanced world and you would hear something akin to “technology runs society.” Nowhere is this more apparent than in today’s classroom. Students today, have essentially been raised with some sort of technological device since childbirth. Because of this, teaching has transformed into a multi-disciplinary approach of differentiated instruction with technology at the forefront. Technology in the classroom is not only essential to keep students engaged and to monitor their progress, but in an environment where students have become dependent on technology, it is a much more efficient and effective way to teach. By donating a new classroom desktop computer, I will be able to plan more efficiently and effectively, offering a technologically differentiated teaching model which children not only have come to expect, but need. Engagement leads to more time on task, and more time on task leads to better student experiences. By donating to our project, you will increase student engagement. This engagement correlates with academic achievement by improving and increasing student attention and focus. Having up to date technology will allow me to offer effective differentiated instruction, keeping my students focused on learning and optimizing their instructional time to meet the variety of student needs.
