A listening center is a perfect independent small group activity to use during guided reading. Not only will students be able to work and learn independently, their literacy skills will be put to the test, as well. Especially in the younger grades, listening centers are extremely beneficial. It can help those who are still learning to read with concept of word, as well as connecting voice to print. By both hearing and looking at the words, students will be able to quickly grasp the spelling of words and familiarize themselves with letter sounds. A listening center is beneficial to a kindergartener of any level!
