My students love to care for animals in the classroom and we are looking at ways to combine that passion with additional ways to supplement our energy needs. We are looking to create alternate biofuels using waste water from aquatic classroom pets! We will be exploring fuels from: algae, duckweed, as well as conventional biofuels such as corn and soybean oil. We will grow the duckweed and algae, harvest, and possibly make the fuel...or at least calculate how much we WOULD have made! My goal is that we run a simple machine on fuel that we have created and show that anyone can do this!
