Attendance is crucial for learning to take place. In a school where the majority of students come from low-income homes, are new to this country or simply will hopefully become first-generation college graduates, motivation is a key factor for them to succeed in school. I would like to not only encourage my students to come to school every day but to teach them that their commitment to doing so is recognized and rewarded. Many times, the students in my school need something tangible that they may not be able to get from home. Each 9 week period, with your help, all students with perfect attendance will have a chance to win one of two new bikes. Help me motivate my students to come to school each and every day. By doing so, you will also be helping them improve academically and close the achievement gap they face.
