COVID-19 has changed the world and we are facing the challenge head on. Our students are home learning online and without the security of a school building, it is proving to be a huge challenge. A challenge we can overcome with a little help. Many of the Pumas f live in situations where space is limited, privacy is limited and they don't have all the tools to make virtual learning easy and accessible. At school, students have a desk or a table that defines not only their physical space but their mental space. Sitting on a desk helps students get into a calm space and be ready to learn. Right now, many of our Pumas would benefit from a portable foldable laptop desk that is easy to open in small, cramp spaces where they can create their own defined learning space. Many students can't afford to have a desk at home due to the cost and because there is no space, especially when they are sharing their living space with many family members. Portable desks would help students have a space that can increase concentration, focus and a better chance to feel engaged in their own learning.
