I have the opportunity to coach 16 other teachers and interact with the students in their classrooms. I often support other teachers on different strategies of increasing Social and Emotional Skills in the preschool classroom. I would like to have many resources available to myself and other teachers to help model and teach these skills to the students we are so lucky to work with.
Learning how to identify emotions in oneself and others is a critical skill children need to learn in order to interact with peers. Students in preschool (ages 3-5) learn in a variety of ways, so these materials would be able to used in many settings. The books could be read with a student one-on-one, during large group activities or available in the library center, for example. The "feelings" activities would be great to introduce during small group activities and then transitioned into an independent activity. These materials would be used quite often, in many classrooms, and help many students!
