Classroom libraries play a major role in providing access to books and promoting literacy. If I am able to provide my students with a variety of high-interest books, I will be able to increase student motivation, engagement, and achievement and help students become critical thinkers and analytical readers. As an English teacher, I know that no book is right for every student, and classroom libraries offer opportunities for teachers to work with students as individuals to find books that will ignite their love for learning. This project will allow me to provide my students with access to a rich classroom library. With independent reading and writing activities I plan to promote greater amounts of reading and increase reading frequency. Moreover, I plan to give my students more diverse reading experiences, which can help them to attain greater levels of reading achievement. Finally, these students can develop a healthy appetite for reading enjoyment.
