With this being my first year as a teacher, resources are not in abundance. I am actively dedicated to building a resource pool to make a limitless class for my students. The various workstation materials that I would like to implement will serve as great stimuli for my students. At my school, we are encouraged to work in small groups, however I don't have many workstation materials. In spite of that, I truly do feel that they will make learning much more fun. My goal is to have each student immersed in every lesson, so deeply, that they will be able to teach the class and others what they have learned. Sometimes, pieces of the manipulative may get lost or tattered, therefore an abundance of supplies to always have a complete set is very important to me. As a part of our social studies block, I love to incorporate current events and news clippings of what's happening in our world so that I can bring real-life accounts into the classroom. I enjoy using websites like "Discovery Education", "Time For Kids", and "Read Works" to obtain articles, and passages that can increase fluency and comprehension outside of the classroom, as well as inside of the classroom. I want my students to understand that reading is important everywhere, however majority of my students are two grade levels behind. Their motivation can be low at times, but these resources that I employ would build confidence, and be geared toward helping them reach their maximum potential. My goal is to help them reach grade-level expectations, however it would be an even greater reward to have contributed to them surpassing their grade levels. I am more than confident that with your support, I will be able to make our "limitless classroom" a reality.
