Exposing kindergarteners to STEAM manipulatives now can definitely influence their career path in the future. During a science lesson, we would be able to use test tubes to mix colored water to create secondary and tertiary colors and discuss how water and food coloring creates a chemical bond to produce the colors we see. We then could produce more colored water, which we would use to determine container capacity by measuring volume. This in turn could lead to a discussion about color blindness and the structure of the human eye. The opportunities are abundant in science, therefore, I firmly believe in order to encourage scholars to pursue science careers it should be introduced during their academic careers at all grade levels. The products I have selected will help bring these experiments to life. I want to provide an atmosphere for my class where I can say, “sand feels like gritty, pebbles when wet, now you feel it and tell me what you think”. Kindergarten is the foundation to every student’s educational career input is crucial.
