Students work in collaborative groups and share out ideas and strategies every day. Currently students use small white boards or poster paper which makes it difficult to for the rest of the class to see. Having mobile whiteboards that are large enough to display their thoughts so that everyone can see when they present their ideas will make their sharing much more effective. We have 6 teams, so I am requesting 6 boards, one for each team. The boards will also be used when we do a carousel which is a study team strategy that we use in math. In a carousel, students work in small groups and move from station to station, which in this case will be from white board to white board, discussing a particular task as they get to each board. Each board will have a question or prompt on it. Carousel is a great way to incorporate kinesthetic learning, and gives students a much needed break from sitting in their chairs. It is also a great way for students to collaborate, as they must discuss and reflect together to answer each question or prompt. My students will be so excited to have these new options to enhance their learning, and I am confident it will make math even more fun.
