Not only are my students special learners, but the majority of my students are English Language Learners. So they have more challenges than other students learning academic language needed to progress through higher grades. Listening centers will support their development of reading fluency, context, inference, and language. It will also be a fun way to learn! Markers will allow them to use color to help their brains sort information, create art, and soothe themselves by coloring meditatively. My students need opportunities to practice self-soothing strategies. Money manipulatives give students a concrete and applied foundation working with fractions, decimals, rounding, counting, and counting by 5's, 10's, and hundreds.
