These materials will help our students gain more learning time outside without the limit of coming to school "dressed for the weather". The school is located in a fairly open area, adjacent to woods, and the population is mainly urban, so for many of them, learning about nature is a new experience. Students learn more when they are excited by what they are learning, and would love to give them a learning experience they can remember. They love playing outside. Having this gear on hand would also allow for spontaneity and taking advantage of a teachable moment at any time, in any kind of weather.
