This school year will present students with unique challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Returning to the classroom after distance learning will be a challenge we have never before faced. Our students will have been under stay at home orders for weeks, if not months by the time we return and returning to a classroom community will be difficult for students needing emotional regulation and coping skills. This project focuses on materials to help students who are working towards self-regulation of their emotions. It will also give them brain breaks that they can do in their seat while social distancing. It is a goal of mine to have a sensory/brain break kit for each child so they do not need to share materials. These materials will assist us as we venture into the process of managing our new normal. With your help, we can create a safe environment with tools to regulate and stay focused for these students in the upcoming school year!
