The students will not be stuck in (what they refer to as) their "boring seats" to do "boring work" all day. The lap desks, wobble balance board, standing mat and floor seats will allow my students to work more comfortably in the classroom. This is especially important for my kiddos who have sensory integration issues that effect their abilities to sit in the standard chairs that we currently use. These items are also beneficial for my students who have trouble maintaining focus on their task at hand and those who protest any work that is put in front of them. Having the ability to complete their work on a more comfortable piece of furniture will help keep my students motivated to finish their work! The hands-on learning tools such as the Alphabet Construction kit, Letter Match puzzles, magnetic letters, and Counting Bears bundle will give my kids the ability to interact with each other and with the materials in front of them. My students are working hard on identifying and applying letters and numbers. Having various ways to build their letters or count with 1:1 correspondence will offer another way for them to perfect this skill! There are several books on my Wishlist that help my students with their Social-Emotional development. We take time out of each day to discuss topics from home or at school that have been weighing heavy on the kiddos.
