By donating books to a classroom in need, not only are you giving students the opportunity to grow as learners, you are also getting students excited about the process! Books in the classroom are a nonnegotiable item that can take learning to a whole new level. When students are able to find their just right book that also piques their interest, they can take responsibility of their learning. To add onto this, all types of learners can benefit from being able to hold, feel, and manipulate their math problems. Math manipulatives are especially helpful for struggling students who still need help with number sense in order to begin to understand addition and subtraction. Both the books and manipulatives will get students on track for success in second grade!
