This project will encourage students to have a new meaning of "systems thinking" through the integration of all content areas and help them become aware of how to be self-sustainable themselves. We will use the books to develop literacy skills. We will use the gardening tools to learn about plant science and integrating math. All other tools will keep us going and help to improve our campus. We also need storage. The goal is to integrate all content areas through book students through-out the year. Literacy lessons would include a book study to learn about gardening basics, and also explore different cultures and their relationship with food for social studies connections. Science lessons would include studying earth science and plant life cycles. Math lessons will include measuring and rebuilding the raised beds. All of these integrations will make real-world connections with students and keep them engaged with their content courses.
